In today’s video we’re talking about how specifically building a team helps your business growth, and I’m going to be sharing why I think this is the number one thing you should be focusing on in 2020.
Too often as an entrepreneur we focus on the fun and sexy stuff like sales and marketing and growing that top line, and I get it because without making sales we don’t have a business.
But what can happen is we can fill up the top of that bucket with more leads, more prospects, more sales and we become a bottleneck further down whereby we struggle to deliver and we reach max capacity quite quickly.
As a doer in our business there is only one of us and therefore we can only achieve so much….
So I want to talk about how growing your team will allow you to release that bottleneck
and enable you to have the business growth that you’re aiming for.
If we recognize that growing our business requires us to bring people in or outsource,then what stops us?
Well firstly, it can be scary can’t it.
It’s like airing our dirty laundry at times – bringing someone in and showing them all the
little nooks and crannies of things you’d like to be better at if only you had time!
And what would they think?
Can you trust them?
Ultimately you’re going to share with people the intimates of the running of your business.
And there needs to be that trust factor.
There’s also the thought of how expensive it is…….
Are you going to make a good return? Especially with the amount of time it takes to train!
Ultimately you could be thinking ‘it’s just easier to do it myself!’
Well, if that’s you I can assure you all of those things can be conquered all of them.
And yes, well, somethings might be quicker to do yourself the first time……..
That is a short-term solution.
If you want to build a business that has freedom in it for you, then it needs to be built beyond you.
Like I said as the doer we can only do so much. Without building a team quite simply you have a job. You have a job that solely relies on you is the doer and if you don’t go into work
one day nothing happens……
If you take a holiday nothing happens…….
If you are unexpectedly unwell or need to go and care for someone nothing happens……..
BUT with a team things do.
With the right team you can take time away and your business can continue to grow!!
And that’s what I want for you.
Why did you start your business?
Personally, it was freedom to choose….
To choose how I was as a mother. To choose how I spent my time in my business. To choose what tasks I did and what things I didn’t do.
And yet when we’re in that doer space, and I’ve been there, there is no choice – we have to do it all! But as soon as we bring people into our business and we outsource tasks, all of a sudden we begin to have and create that freedom to spend our time specifically on the things that are going to allow us to grow our business rather than doing all of the things and struggling!!
As a business owner we have to focus on three things.
Our profits, our clients, but also our team.
To start with and early on in a business, that is us. But as we grow as we scale
we have to bring people in. To go from being a job to a business asset.
I call it “building a business beyond you”.
To have that freedom to have that freedom to choose how you spend your time.
